Nadgunjan was established in 1975 in Ujjain by pandit Krishnakant Shukla. He was born in the village of Lasudiya Bhrahmin (Dewas) . He took his primary musical education from his maternal Grand Father Pandit Nanuram ji Sharma. PT. Sharma was a famous orator and actor even a British officer was impressed when he witnessed his role even against British governance in one of the famous plays. He got many offers to play role in cinemas but he refused for his interest and fascination towards religious sermon. It was said that even then cinema halls came to stand still when his plays were presented in a particular city. Pandit Krishnakant Shukla developed his love for music that is being inspired by Pt. Nanuram Sharma. Initially he was interested in playing Harmonium only but later on his inclination towards violin was equally appreciated. It is worth mentioning fact that he started playing Tabla with the same efficiency. As playing Harmonium is inseparable part of singing so he learnt vocal music under the able guidance of Pt. Ramakant Dubey, Pt. Pramod Shashtri , Pt. Sudhakar Parulekar. His self composed Bhajans and Gazals were admired by the learned audience to the great extent. On many occasions he presented his compositions from different platforms. His compositions are successfully presented by well known singers like Mr. Rajesh Joshi, Ms. Namita Mahurkar , Mr. Mahesh Moyal, Mr. Harish Moyal, Mrs. Archana Tiwari, Mrs. Kalpana Bhojak, Mrs Madhuri Jain and Ms. Mitali Hardikar. It is because of the continuous request by the Ernest new learners in music, he started teaching music in 1975 and the list of his renowned popular and distinguished students is very long. Many have owned name and fame in the field and in order to continue this rich tradition of Indian classical music his son Sanjay Shukla is also giving his dedicated services to the institute and guiding the students.
